Construction and site insurance (CAR): prepare your project
Describe the project: type of work (new build, conversion, renovation), location, approximate value of the works, planned duration and your role (client or contractor). State the cover you want: contractors’ all risks, client’s liability, damage to existing structures.
Compare the structures and works actually covered, the period of cover, deductibles, protection of existing buildings and client’s liability. Ask about exclusions (design defects, delays) and the maintenance period.

Who takes out construction insurance: the client or the contractor?
Both happen: the policy is often taken out by the client for the whole site, sometimes by the general contractor. State your role and what your contracts already provide; the insurer or broker will recommend a suitable solution.
Are my contact details and attachments public?
